Cricket World Cup 1975  West Indies won:
Venue : Lords, England
Result : West Indies beat Australia.
West Indies won by 17 runs. Scored 291 runs in 60 overs for 8 wickets.
Australia scored 274 in 58.4 overs all out.

Facts -
# England ( 1975 ) The first ball in the World Cup history was bowled by India's Madan Lal to England's Denis Amiss at Lord's on June 7, 1975.
# India's opener Sunil Gavaskar batted through the full 60 overs in the opening match against England at Lord's to score just 36 runs.

Cricket World Cup 1979 West Indies won:

Venue : Lords, England
Result : West Indies beat England
West Indies won by 92 Runs & scored 286 runs in 60 overs for 9 Wickets
England scored 191 in 50 overs all out.

# Viv Richard's 139 not out is the highest score in a World Cup Final
# Sri Lanka became the first nation to boycott a match in the World Cup when they refused to play Israel on political grounds in the mini tournament.

Cricket World Cup 1983 India won:

Venue : Lords, England
Result : India beat West Indies.
India beat West Indies by 43 runs & scored 183 in 54.4 overs all out.
West Indies scored 140 in 52 overs all out.
Facts -
England ( 1983 ) One of the all-time great innings, 175 not out by Kapil Dev against Zimbabwe was lost to posterity. BBC had gone on strike that day with the result that it was never recorded on video.

Cricket World Cup 1987 Australia won:

Venue : Calcutta, India.
Result : Australia beat England.
Australia won by 7 runs & scored 253 in 50 overs for 5 Wickets.
England scored 246 in 50 overs for 8 wickets.

Facts -
# India and Pakistan (1987) For the first time World Cup shifted from England to the Indian sub-continent.
# Graham Gooch of England became the only player to win three consecutive man-of-match awards.

Cricket World Cup 1992 Pakistan won:

Venue : Melbourne, Australia.
Result : Pakistan beat England.
Pakistan won by 22 runs & scored 249 in 50 overs for 6 wickets.
England scored 227 runs for 49.2 overs all out.

Cricket World Cup 1996 Sri Lanka won:

Venue : Lahore Pakistan.
Result : Sri Lanka beat Australia.
Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets & scored 245 in 46.2 overs for 3 wickets.
Australia scored 241 in 50 overs for 7 wickets.

Facts -
# India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka ( 1996 ) Javed Miandad became the first and only player to take part in all six World Cup's.
# Mark Waugh became the only batsman to hit three centuries in one World Cup.
# The semi-final between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens was the first to be awarded to a team by default, the crowd disturbance that forced match referee to award the match to Sri Lanka.

 Cricket World Cup 1999 Australia won:

Venue : Lords, England
Result : Australia beat Pakistan.
Australia won 8 wickets & scored 133 in 20.1 for 2 wickets
Pakistan scored 132 in 39 overs all out.

Facts -
# England (1999) Australia crushed Pakistan with ease in 20.1 overs,  replying to Pakistan's mere score of 132 (all out in 39 overs).
# The semi-final between South Africa and Australia was one one of the finest one-day matches in history and maybe regarded as the real final.
# Australia lifted the title after a run of seven games without defeat.

Cricket World Cup 2003  Australia won:

Venue : The Wanderers, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Result : Australia emerged as champions, beating India in the final by 125 runs.

# South Africa got their calculations wrong in the rain and were kicked out of the tournament without qualifying for the second round.
# Australian Shane Warne was banned for substance abuse raising the awareness of the tournament to new levels.

Cricket World Cup 2007  Australia won:

Venue : West Indies
Result : Australia emerged as Champions again with a final score of 281-4 off 38 overs.

Facts -
# Pakistan coach Bob Woolmer was found dead in his hotel room the day after Ireland knocked his team out of the world Cup.
# Australia became the first team to win three consecutive world cups.
